The term tatastha describes the living entities as existing on the shoreline, the margin, between the spiritual energy and the material energy. Because of this marginal position, the living entity inherently possesses minute independence, the free will to look toward the spiritual light or turn away into the material shadow. Exercising that freedom by turning away from the Supreme Source means the living entity must find an alternative narrative to justify its independent existence. Materialistic science provides the perfect, highly sophisticated narrative for this exact purpose.
